Horace Chan is a PhD student who recently started a REACT studentship under the supervision of Professors Mairi Brittan, Andy Baker and Dave Newby at the University of Edinburgh.
Horace completed an MScR at the Institute for Regeneration and Repair at the University of Edinburgh, where he performed wet and dry-lab research across liver regeneration and immuno-ontogeny.
Prior to that he worked in medical affairs in industry, which prompted an interest in advanced therapies, regenerative medicine and a career aspiration to contribute to their successful translation.
He was drawn to REACT's mission and collaborative network to develop nucleic acid therapies for a major unmet clinical need, and this PhD offers the opportunity to pursue his scientific interests in tissue repair and regeneration.
Through this studentship, Horace aims to develop into an independent researcher in cardiovascular biology, accumulate technical experience and knowledge, and build a valuable professional network. Ultimately, he hopes the network and opportunities in REACT will provide an excellent foundation to achieve his aspirations.
