Mairi is Professor of Cardiovascular Regeneration at the University of Edinburgh and co-investigator with REACT.
Her area of expertise is using multimodal omics technology (single cell and nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics) to identify novel therapeutic targets to promote regenerative neovascularisation after myocardial infarction.
For target validation, Mairi's group uses mechanistic in vitro assays with gene editing technology and preclinical in vivo mouse models of myocardial infarction and heart failure.
She is proud and excited to be part of REACT, as this innovative centre brings together researchers and clinicians from multidisciplinary backgrounds, as well as other biotech partners with a mission to develop advanced therapies to regenerate the heart after injury, an area of urgent unmet need.
