Clare is Professor of Tissue Stem Cell Biology at the University of Edinburgh and an experienced leader in training and dissemination across biological sciences and regenerative medicine.

Clare has a strong interest in public engagement and is the academic lead for work with patients and communities across REACT. She also leads the pan-European Consortium for Communicating Gene and Cell Therapy Information (EuroGCT.org) which brings together 47 partner organisations and institutions across Europe with a goal of providing reliable and accessible information about the use of cells and genetic material to treat disease.

Clare was awarded the University of Edinburgh's Tam Dalyell Prize for Excellence in Engaging the Public with Science in 2012 (jointly with collaborator Dr Amy Hardie) and in 2015 was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
