Thierry is Professor of Experimental Cardiology at King’s College London.
He previously served as a faculty member at the University of Lausanne Medical School, Switzerland. His research aims to understand how the adult heart adapts to injury and stress, with the long-term goal of developing transformative therapies for heart disease. His work focuses on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are emerging as key regulators of cell identity and disease-associated gene programs.
His laboratory has been at the forefront of identifying enhancer-associated lncRNAs as a regulatory layer that controls epigenetic and transcriptional responses in the stressed heart. By targeting these lncRNAs, his research establishes innovative approaches that open new avenues for RNA therapies in cardiovascular disease. These projects are directly relevant to the development of next-generation RNA therapeutics for heart failure, with the aim of redefining cardiac remodeling, limiting pathological fibrosis, and reactivating cardiomyocyte proliferative capacity. By addressing fundamental disease-driving mechanisms, this work has strong potential to translate into clinically meaningful interventions. Thierry Pedrazzini is also a co-founder of Haya Therapeutics, a Swiss biotechnology company developing lncRNA-targeting medicines for fibrotic diseases.
